Sertã: over 25% of the municipality earmarked for solar acceleration zones

Over 25% of the Sertã municipality's area is identified in the national plan as a solar acceleration zone, one of the highest proportions in the country.

Sertã City Council, joined by neighbouring municipalities in Beira Baixa, issued an unfavourable opinion on the programme, warning of the cumulative impact on the landscape, agriculture and municipal land-use planning.

The regional pushback reflects a broader concern about the disproportionate concentration of large-scale energy projects in inland territories, with no equivalent compensation for local communities.
